My Battle with Stage 4 Hodgkin's Lymphoma
Donation protected
Hey!
My name is Maddie King. I’m a 19 year old business student living in Sydney, Australia, and was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin’s lymphoma (an aggressive cancer of the immune system) on the 24th October 2019. I will be undergoing aggressive chemotherapy for 3-5months, which will leave me infertile, and will be unable to work or study during this period due to how intensive my treatment will be.
While Australian healthcare is excellent in covering the cost of treatment itself, there are many additional costs that come with the territory which are not cheap. These include the initial and ongoing cost of IVF and subsequent egg storage, countless medications, wigs, additional therapies and various surgical fees.
I lost my Dad to cancer in 2016, so Mum is currently working as a single mum, and will be taking time off work to support me during treatment. Any financial contribution, no matter how big or small, would be greatly appreciated to alleviate the financial stress on her and on our family.
I have linked a video for anyone who is interested which explains my diagnosis and the story behind how I found out I had cancer at 19. Thank you to everyone for all your support, it does not go unnoticed <3.
