Yes! It's my 32nd birthday! And 3rd "Quad" niversery. Only a month and a week apart, I am in need of a number a. Important things with a pneumatic self turning mattress leading as well as help maintaining others. Anddd I'm turning to you guys for help as it's the only way to get things going! Thanks everyone who has donated in the past I love you all. (Separate donation link below, FB can be glitchy).
I need a special mattress ! Will help avoid pressure sores and skin flap surgery/4 months lying solely on my side !
I am in great need of a slow air release, pressure sore preventing mattress. There is a certain kind which will assist you in turning yourself in the bed which is very difficult for me. As I can feel deep pressure, lying on my back - unable to move is very painful and I believe this mattress might be the last thing I need to prevent my chronic and unbearable pain. The New chair And heater have been a godsend but i'm still in pain. He degree no doubt but, anyone who knows about spinal cord injuries knows the importance of turning and positioning at night. It's some thing that if not done correctly, can create some very nasty wounds. I having to know a few people who can personally attest to this. People who have spent months in a hospital healing from skin flap surgery. Unfortunately they spend the majority if- not all of the time lying in bed on their side as to keep weight off of their behind. I've been lucky so far but my mattress is worn out, and I don't have anyone to turn in position me manually so the next best option is buying a bed which will do it for you. I don't think these are the cheapest mattresses on the market but it sounds like they would sure beat four months in the hospital lying on my side. I believe they are about $6500. Mike man has more details he set up my standing wheelchair which is a godsend.
Another important thing which needs attention is that, my van broke again the ramp doesn't engage so it will neither fold out nor fold in. This makes the driver get out and deploy the ramp as well as push it back in the van. I'd really like for that not to be a thing anymore. It's been non-functional for sometime but with art shows coming up like we get it fixed to make the day go easier and everything much more smooth for the people involved
Well after 2 1/2 years it finally happened, I crashed my drone. And then I crashed the replacement-upgraded one the first flight after I received it. Believe it or not my old drone is nearly as expensive as the newer upgraded one with inflation. It was actually more money to buy it this year than it was two years ago.
A Honda EU 2200I lightweight generator along with a standing heating / cooling HVAC unit. This small generator will be a great help as my bed is electric along with my chair and when I lose power the bed deflates and I need to be able to charge my chair. It will be clutch at 3 AM during hurricane season when the power goes out and I need someone, anyone on hand to handle and start the generator. It's only 46 pounds so literally anyone can do it. Also with the generator HVAC unit combination I'll be able to heat and cool my garage as well as my art festival tent. Last year that was hell, I had a fever at every show due to the fact that I can not sweat.Air conditioning in my garage during the summer would be wonderful because, un like the winter I'm sequestered to one room in my house during the sumner months, the only room I can move around in and maintain their temperature in which I need
I've already started to make a studio space in the garage but maintaining the temperature will be important..
I am actively learning Spanish and trying to learn to code with Babbel Duolingo Codeacademy and Pluralsight so cash will go to that. Hopefully that will translate to a job or some thing in the future.
And believe it or not one day I would actually like to drive. Yes, drive. I have to take a course/physical therapy to get a special license and then have my van modified with accessible controls. Most likely the more expensive thing which is a joystick because of my propensity to fall forward. But all of this.... I'll have to consider it another time, - another fundraiser because it's a lot.
I've been in hibernation the past few months So let me come out with a bang and help me celebrate my 32nd journey around the sun as well as my third adventur in a wheelchair.
In a side note :
I'd like to celebrate overcoming the adversity ofI May not be the strapping 29 year old I once was, The person people were almost always nice to but I can still say, It out without a doubt that people are good. For the most part. If they weren't I probably would've given up but thank you everyone thank you for being good disability, the likes of which I was unaware until found Myself deep in the SCI world. It's a tough reality, there's no getting around that. But despite the huge drawbacks of a cervical fracture I have witnessed some of the most beautiful acts of charity. This as well as Falling victim, and rather naïvely to equal but opposite force. People just being jerks to the less fortunate. As- for whom does the Wolfpack single outt? The healthy or young buck or the easy targets, the young & old, sick or injured?.
I am happy to say that while That unfortunate circumstance does arise the forces of charity and goodwilloutweigh it Significantly.
