Our Beloved Mother, Xia Lee
Donation protected
My mother, Xia Lee, valued nothing more than family. Born in Laos as the eldest of three siblings, she assumed a motherly role very early on as she watched over and cared for her younger siblings on a daily basis. My mother often stressed the importance of family to us as my siblings and I grew up here in America. She always cultivated a family-oriented philosophy saying, “Family will always support you and be by your side”.
In March of 2018, my mother was diagnosed with colon cancer. As a family, we all came together to support her and to be by her bedside, but the remainder of 2018 was really hard. There would be many ups and downs as my mother underwent cancer treatment and it wouldn’t be until January of 2019 that we would receive the good news that her cancer was in remission.
Unfortunately, earlier this year she started to show signs of liver disease, and on April 28th, 2020 my beloved mother, Xia Lee, passed away leaving behind my father, Xeng Xiong, my seven siblings, and her nineteen wonderful grandchildren. She passed peacefully while surrounded by her family, allowing us to show her that her teachings of love and family did not go to waste.
My mother, Xia Lee, was a strong, beautiful, and wonderful person. In addition to family values, she instilled the importance of compassion for others and benevolence. She loved cooking for friends and family and she watched everyone’s kids. She enjoyed gardening and often gave away the fruits and vegetables she grew to others. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. I am proud to be able to say that she was my mother.
We are hoping to raise funds for her funeral and understand that with the current COVID-19 pandemic, digital donations open a safe channel for those who want to support our family while still practicing safe social distancing. Funeral details will be updated when our county allows for funeral processions to be held. We appreciate and thank everyone for their support and for keeping us in your thoughts and prayers during these difficult times.
