My body on the line for your mental health

One year ago, I was an overweight male weighing nearly 19 stone. Now, after hard work and dieting, I have lost three stone in preparation for climbing Kilimanjaro. Although I suffer from chronic pain in my neck, back, and hip, I am determined to push through it with by getting in shape and physiotherapy. Along with my physical ailments, I also struggle with anxiety, depression, a low immune system, vitamin D deficiency, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and other issues.
With 1.4 million supporters across social media, many of whom have shared their own mental health struggles with me, I want to do something incredible to inspire others. I hope to show that even someone like me, a previously obese and depressed individual, can climb Kilimanjaro and raise awareness for mental health. My goal is to raise £10,000, which will go towards spreading awareness of mental health issues and the support available.
Kilimanjaro is a dormant volcano located in Tanzania, East Africa, and is the highest mountain on the African continent, standing at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet) above sea level. It is one of the world's Seven Summits and a popular destination for mountaineers, hikers, and nature enthusiasts. Kilimanjaro has three volcanic cones - Kibo, Mawenzi, and Shira - and is surrounded by lush forests, moorlands, and diverse wildlife. It is also a significant cultural and spiritual site for the indigenous people of Tanzania, with various tribes having their own legends and beliefs about the mountain. The climb to the summit of Kilimanjaro can be challenging, even for experienced climbers making this no easy challenge for me.
While this climb is no easy feat, especially given my health conditions, I am determined to complete it. I am also seeking business sponsorships to help cover the costs of the climb. If you know of any businesses that might be interested, please email me at [email redacted].uk.
Mental health awareness is something that is incredibly important to me, as I spend much of my time researching and helping others who are struggling. I have received messages from people who say that I have saved their lives, but I am not a professional and cannot give professional advice. All I can do is listen and talk to those in need. We need more awareness, information, and resources available to those who are struggling.
Statistics show that mental health struggles are a common issue affecting a significant portion of the population. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately one in four people worldwide will experience a mental health disorder at some point in their lives. Furthermore, it's estimated that two-thirds of people with mental health disorders do not seek or receive proper treatment, which can lead to worsening symptoms and a decreased quality of life. These statistics highlight the importance of addressing mental health concerns and seeking appropriate support and treatment when needed.
I understand that not everyone is in a position to donate & I would appreciate it if you could share this message with others who may be able to help.
As I embark on this climb despite my personal struggles with depression and anxiety, I hope to inspire others who may be facing similar challenges. I know that no part of my body says I should be able to do this, but I am determined to overcome my doubts and fears. I want to show the world that depression and mental health issues do not define a person and should not hold anyone back from achieving their dreams. By pushing myself to overcome the challenges of this climb, I hope to demonstrate that with proper support and treatment, anything is possible. I also hope to raise awareness about mental health and reduce the stigma surrounding these issues, encouraging others to seek help when they need it. I believe that my climb is a testament to the strength and resilience of the human spirit, and I hope that it will inspire others to push past their own obstacles and show the world what they can achieve.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
