My Breast Friends Fundraiser

Good day everyone. My name is April, and I am posting in honor of Breast

Cancer Awareness month, regarding a very dear friend of mine. Her name is

Rishanda, a 48-year-old mother of three, with the youngest being 9-years-old. She is in the fight of her life for the 2nd time around. In 2017, she was diagnosed with lung

cancer (never having been a smoker) and was hit again in 2021 with the

devastating blow of breast cancer. During this time, she was afraid and worried

about her health, family, and future. And as her longtime friend, my

job was to support her, provide encouragement along the way and help her and be of help however I could. I know, for a fact, that her 9-year-old daughter was one of her biggest motivations for not letting cancer beat her.

Christmas 2021 was not the norm for her or her child as she was sick

from chemotherapy, but she tried to make the holiday tradition as normal as

possible for her family. She has gone thru surgery and radiation and now

trying to get her new life back to some form of normalcy, but it’s a struggle.

Even though she works, she was out for months trying to recover and

pay what she could on bills, but this has been hard on her financially.

She is trying to pick up the pieces of this puzzle called “life” that

had fallen apart during her treatments, but the pieces are very challenging

to try to put back together. This ordeal has been unfair to her 9-year-old daughter.

It has robbed her of some of her youth, worrying and helping her be her mom's caretaker, but she is her mom's saving grace. I pray daily for both their mental and

emotional well-being and prayer works.

Since we know that illnesses feed off stress, I am doing my best to help

limit the amount of stress that she is under. Therefore, I am reaching out on

her behalf for help...No amount is too small and thanks in advance for your help.
