MY BROTHER'S KITCHEN CLASSES - 2023 & 2024
Donation protected
We are Heirloom LA. A catering company, with a not-for-profit initiative called My Brother's Kitchen. MBK is a monthly cooking class, aimed at helping teach valuable cooking and life skills to youth transitioning out of foster care throughout Los Angeles.
We believe that food is healthcare, and knowledge of ingredients is invaluable for everyone. We also know that there are 30,000 youth in foster care throughout LA, and hope that these monthly classes provide a supportive environment for youth, month over month.
Classes are only possible through community building, and our initiative partners: Twinspire + Alliance for Children's Rights.
Funds collected will go directly to bringing each class to fruition, and for the following items:
- Mise en place for up to 30 students
- On-site dishwasher
- Kitchen rental for 4 hours
- Kitchen prep team
- Refreshments for students
- To-go bags for up to 30 students, filled with ingredients so participants can make each recipe at home!
- Photographer, so we can continue to promote and grow this program
- Transportation for students (getting to and from class is often the hardest part!)
Classes take place every other month, with each class costing $3,500.
