This is a fundraiser to help with vet fees for a kitten named Ozzy, but we call him “Baby” because he has such a sweet nature. He has a broken thigh bone that cannot repair properly without surgical intervention.
We have already paid near £700 for the first round of vet assessments, X-rays and painkillers. We just don’t have a spare £2500 so he doesn’t live in constant pain for the rest of his life. As I understand it, if he can’t have this operation it’s cruel to keep him alive vets would recommend surrendering/euthanasia because it’s an expensive operation. I know there are charities that help with costs but I may not be entitled to that help, and if I am I was told by the vet I need to put forward most of the cost of the operation because only a percentage of the vet fee is offered from charity per animal. Baby is young, with a beautiful and loving disposition and a good friend to me. He deserves to live a long, fulfilling happy life like everyone else.
How it happened… One hectic morning while I was getting my son ready for school, Baby escaped through the door as my son and I were leaving. I did everything I could to entice Baby back into the house, but he refused. He’s an indoor cat and was thrilled to be outside and wanted to explore… Baby then jumped over a neighbours fence where I could not catch him. In less than 7 minutes he was hit by a rushing car. I rush back to my house and there is a commotion outside. - A neighbour saw baby was hit by a taxi. It was described as a silver Audi, and the company name is all the information we have. The taxi stopped and the driver leaned out l to look back… and drove away. Hit and run. Baby was seen writhing in pain in the middle of the road before coming to his senses and hobbled away from the scene into my garden. I rushed to Baby, it’s clear he had a leg injury. We called the taxi company to let them know about the accident, but the taxi company denied having a silver Audi in their fleet…. So we took Baby to the vet, Paid £90 for baby to be examined and given pain medication. His next vet visit included anaesthetics, pain relief and xrays, these cost £592 - These have been paid and are not included in my fundraiser.
I’ve opened this fundraiser because I have spent all I have, I do not have any money near the amount of £2520… Unfortunately I haven’t gotten around to an insurance plan yet because I have been so busy with life and didn’t expect to need one so soon!!! I have sold our TVs and games consoles to generate money for these vet fees. I’m prepared to make cuts everywhere else to save money but it’s never going to be enough and would take too long. It’s not fair on Baby, he needs the operation asap. In the xray the vet noticed something wrong with Babies leg, not only was the ball joint broken on his thigh bone, he also had a congenital hip disorder with both his legs and described it as “necrotic”. He has a genetic condition passed from his mother and something I will need to be prepared for in future. But imminently for now the vet proposed to remove the shattered bone in the injured leg. It’s a major operation totalling the cost of £2520. The details are below.
I would be forever grateful for any help towards these costs, I love my furry friend, It’s why I call him my Baby. He's the sweetest little guy. Follows me everywhere like a little shadow, and sleeps at the end of the bed when I sleep. When I go out he waits for me to come home and greets at the door me with his little meows! He is so special, our bond is amazing. Sometimes he just loves to gaze at me with the most adoring eyes it truely melts your heart, this sweet little kitten has the most intense love and affection. It would mean so much to me and our family to help him. The vet says the operation is urgent, it cannot be ignored or else he will experience a life of pain and suffering. The bone healing and breaking, over and over again, on top of an arthritic congenital hip disorder. I want baby to see baby enjoy running and playing again. It would be such a big help. Thanks for any help, we will be ever greatful
