My Cat Has A HOLE IN HIS NECK (Promenade Special Edition)
Donation protected
Hello lovely people. I manage a feral cat colony around my house, working hard to get my cats food, shelter, and vet care if needed. If possible, I try to socialize them for adoption and have adopted out many cats this way, but my main goal is to keep my cats happy and healthy.
On that note, one of my stray cats - a luxuriously long-furred tuxedo boy named Tamara - has a HOLE IN HIS NECK.
I suspect he got it from one of the many pet dogs my neighbors have started letting roam around the neighborhood unchecked, and I'm going to have to have an awkward conversation about that in the future, but in the meantime MY CAT HAS A HOLE IN HIS NECK.
A solid third-to-half of his neck is missing at least the top few layers of skin, leaving either the dermis or possibly muscle exposed. I think this happened today or yesterday (6/10 or 6/9), so not much time has passed for illness to set in yet. I'm working on catching him to give him at least a good wash of peroxide, but if/when he starts getting sick, I want to bring him into my vet.
It's a low-cost vet, but those expenses still add up. Current estimate of costs is:
-$80 antibiotic shot
-$40-60 steroid shot (for inflammation)
-$20-30 rabies shot (required for treatment and his is over a year old)
-$50 exam fee
-$55 for SQ fluids, if needed
-$20-30 for take-home meds
-If nothing else drastic is needed, $28 for flea and tick med because he's having a Rough Time
I know this only comes to $318, but I want to raise additional funds because I feel like he'll need more than this. Anything not used for him will go towards food and care for the other cats.
Sorry to keep asking like this - money is still tight for me. But while I have a hole in my wallet, Tamara has a HOLE IN HIS NECK, so any help, no matter how small, will be appreciated. My stray boy's getting help no matter what.
