My Dad Got Robbed. Help Him Get New Tools!
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Aubrié Costello, daughter to the incomparable figure Bob Costello. Today, Bob's work storage unit got robbed and every single one of his tools was taken. He's been an independent contractor for 46 years. Started his biz when he was 19. He's old school. He's a one-man show. He draws his own plans by hand. He lives extremely minimally. He lives humbly and for those of you who know him, he'll be the first to tell you his business gives him purpose, and life, and is, as he says, the only thing he really has, owns, and is truly proud of. Like a lot of us, he's gig-to-gig, paycheck-to-paycheck (often the case for those following their creative passions). Now he doesn't even have a hammer to his name. Some of his tools were 46 years old. He was leaving them all to me and my brother in his will. Now they are all gone.
He is 67 years old and still working multiple jobs ALONE. After discovering he had been robbed this am and filing a police report, all while having a bad case of walking pneumonia, he went to work! Not to one job site, but two today. My heart breaks for him. For those of you who know, he's been letting me stay with him while I put my all, my passion, into my art career. I don't have a dollar to give him to be helpful here which kills me. His insurance company is only offering a small reimbursement. They grinded his lock then proceeded to steal his hand tools, hammers, cords, drills, compressors, nail guns, an industrial metal brake, work buckets, dropcloths, power tools, horses, paint brushes, EVERYTHING. The total cost of his tool collection is $20,000 minimum. So that's what I'm asking to raise here. It's the least I can do for a man following his passion and craft while letting me live with him for free to follow mine. Please share and donate, every little bit, every share, every dollar counts here.
