My name is Joe , I am 21 Years old and I live with my family of four. My moms name is Karen and my younger brother is Daniel.
My dad, Jim Fidler was diagnosed with lung cancer on December 12th, 2019. This came as a complete shock to the family. After weeks of scans and tests and waiting in the hospital, he started some radiation therapy and just as the first few sessions were starting we had more bad news. The cancer in his lung metastasized through the lymph nodes and to the brain, to his left frontal lobe. After more scary and stressful weeks of CT scans and MRIs, we found out that it was only in the one spot, and the doctors came to the conclusion that they could operate to remove the tumor from his brain.
As I am writing this on Jan 19th, 2020, my dad has just undergone brain surgery and is in recovery and doing well. He will be in recovery for a few days and then will be able to come back home. We are amazed at his speedy recovery and are so happy to have some good news.
This is unfortunately only the beginning, and now they will start micro radiating his brain to remove any more cancerous cells, and then move to the lungs. With a combination of immunotherapy, radiation and chemo we are praying that he will beat this.
My dad is the main provider for my family and is always working hard as a private contractor and is usually working more than 10 hours every day. My mom is a nurse at hospice house and is working full time as well as overtime shifts.
This combined with me working full time as well is usually enough to make rent payments, groceries and other necessities. With my dad out of commission we have lost a good chunk of our income, and are now struggling to make the 2500$ a month rent payment on our house, as well as some medical fees down the road.
This is the main stress for my dad right now and the rest of our family and we would like to be able to focus on my dads health and comfort. This is why we need help.
Thank you for taking time to read this. Once again anything at all is appreciated and thank you to everyone for your support.
