Thurston’s Fight Against Cancer: Join the Battle!

Hi my name is Tiffany. I am fundraising to help my dad, Thurston Jackson (52 years old) through the toughest, most distressing time in his life.
On September 9th 2023, our family received the devastating news that my dad has Stage 4 Cancer (Renal Cell Carcinoma) after finding a mass that is “larger than the kidney itself” on his left kidney. After over a week of rigorous testing and a biopsy, we learned that the cancer had already spread to his right kidney, spine, pelvis, skull, liver, and lungs. Now, almost a month later, my dad is having trouble walking, standing, and sitting for long periods of time.
There is no cure. However, there is treatment he can undergo. Unfortunately, because the treatment is rigorous, the oncologist informed my dad that it would not be safe for him to go back to work for the foreseeable future.
Sadly, just 3 weeks prior to receiving his diagnosis, Thurston and his wife (my step-mom) had to travel and used their emergency savings for funeral expenses for his dad (my grandfather) who died suddenly of a heart attack. They have also been trying to assist with financially supporting my grandmother who was diagnosed with Dementia. At this time, my dad is no longer receiving employment income and my step-mom is working two jobs while also taking care of my dad and my 11 year old sister. Additionally, my dad was born with a heart condition that prevents him from getting adequate insurance coverage. The financial strain is not only affecting his ability to focus on his health at this time, but is also affecting his wife and daughter.
Thurston is an exceptional, loving and caring husband to his loving wife, a father of 3 girls and a first-time grandfather to my 4 month-old son. He has always worked hard to provide for his family. He has 2 part-time jobs, one of which he operates a school bus. He has a great rapport with the students that take the bus to school, as well as their parents. He is a light and a joyful presence to everyone he meets and can often be seen laughing and joking with family, friends and even strangers.
Any donation given, big or small, would mean the world to me and my family. The funds will help cover expenses like his mortgage, monthly bills and travel costs for his treatments. This financial strain could mean the loss of their home. We are starting with a goal of $45,000 which will just begin to ease the financial burden. If you are able, please leave a kind word of support too. Don’t forget to express your love and appreciation to your dad and loved ones. Thank you for sharing this and for your support and donations!!
