My daughter Jade with Severe Aplastic Anemia
Donation protected
I'm writing this on the behalf of my daughter Jade, she is 22 years old and lives with her boyfriend in Salem,Oregon. She has had a slow decline in her health for the last 2 years, then she was diagnosed with Severe Aplastic Anemia ; bone marrow failure and PNH about 6 months ago and is transfusion dependent twice a week at the hospital in Salem to try to keep her blood counts somewhat stable but they are all very low , she also has a team of doctors at OHSU, where she had her last bone marrow biopsy and ATG treatment.
Jade was in the hospital for 10 days receiving ATG treatment, an immune suppressant therapy to hopefully Inspire her bone marrow. The treatment takes up to 6 months to see if there is any difference in her blood counts, and is enduring many side effects from the multitude of medications she is on.
If Jade's bone marrow does not respond to this treatment, she will need to have chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant because that is the only cure for this disease. Jade is unable to drive at this point and has not been able to work in the last year, her living situation is unstable but needs to be close to the hospital for treatment.
My beautiful daughter used to enjoy being with her friends, hiking, going to music festivals and being active, our goal is to get her back to the life she once had and to survive the journey to get there.
The support she will receive from GoFundMe will be going towards a stable living situation, transportation, medical supplies, and the long-term care she is going to be needing. Thank you for reading this and any support, blessings and prayers are encouraged, we are grateful !
