My famous novelist ex won’t pay child support
Donation protected
I have a son with a famous young-adult novelist. She has been in arrears for child support for over three years. She also misreported her income as just $40,000 per year, and, since she’s self-employed and hasn’t paid taxes since our divorce in 2015, the state hasn’t been able to accurately calculate her income or garnish her wages. She admits on social media that she uses a secret Paypal account, her roommates’ bank accounts, and her mother’s bank account to avoid consequences.
She’s also spent the last three years hiring lawyers and living in hiding to indefinitely continue all cases related to child support matters. I’ve been to court 19 times in three years for what was supposed to be a contempt hearing, only to find out that the hearing was postponed because she hid from the process server or hired a lawyer to get it postponed to a later date.
My current wife financially supports my son from this previous marriage, but she’s spent tens of thousands of dollars on our son who she isn’t supposed to have to support, and on attorney’s fees trying to have my ex held accountable.
I really need help with my legal expenses so I can take care of my son or get my ex to do what she’s legally compelled to do. :(
It’s ok if you can’t donate. Nobody’s supposed to have to pay to take care of other people’s children. But it would be really nice if you could help out by sharing this fundraiser even if you’re not able to help financially.
