My first London marathon — supporting AlkionidesUK
After running my second half marathon I thought I'd put my name in the ballot for the London marathon for fun — then ended up among the 3% given a place in the draw. So I'm training for the race on April 21 and, in the run-up (get it?), I'm raising money to benefit the brilliant charity Alkionides UK.
Alkionides UK supports disadvantaged Cypriots who come to the UK for specialised medical treatment by offering them and their families free accommodation — a ‘nest’ — while they're here. My aunt Marie Nicholsby has just written a book about the charity's work since it was founded in 1998: https://www.armidabooks.com/book/alkionides-making-a-difference/
