My foster baby Rambo

Hi my name is Rachel Miller, those of you that know me well know that I've been trying to find my foster baby Rambo a home for a while now. A little bit about his background. I found out about Rambo needing a home from my dog, Stella's doggie daycare in Miami. They began posting about him needing a home on their Instagram page. I reached out to find a little more about his story. Rambo is an 8-9 year old german shepherd mix who grew up with the same family since he was a puppy. He was left at the doggie daycare one day and his family never returned to pick him and his sibling chihuahua up. We aren't sure exactly what happened but the owner got stuck in another country and wasn't able to come back for his dogs. His family in Flordia told the daycare to do what they had to do with the dogs. The chihuahua was adopted very quickly since he was a small dog and only 3-4 years old. We've had extreme difficulty trying to find Rambo a home. The daycare was going to give him to the shelter in Miami but I stopped them from doing that by offering to foster him and help out. Rambo doesn't stand a chance at a kill shelter cause he is an older dog. Rambo has been going back and forth between 3 foster families including me and the doggie daycare the last 2 months. He is struggling a lot with the instability and really needs a stable home. Especially since he is an older dog. The first foster didn't keep him cause of his leash aggression. She said he was great in the home but barked and showed aggression towards strangers. She didn't want to take the time to deal with it so then I took him to my apartment with Stella. I had a good experience with him. He was very good with Stella and such a sweet, cuddly boy. He is so smart, knows so many tricks and is fully house-trained. He was so great with us! He is a very protective dog and he did bark on the leash but as long as no one came up to him it was okay. He doesn't like strangers to approach him but if people just walk by he ignores them. I really bonded with him during the week I had him and fell in love. He just wanted love and someone to play with. He is super chill and just hung out while I studied. I was able to find a family that lived in Fort Myers that was interested in adopting him. They had him while I was in NY and I was hoping it would work out with them. They are super sweet and were looking for an older dog. Unfortunately, they have a cat and Rambo tried to eat the cat so it wasn't going to work out. He gets along with small female dogs only. Also while at the foster's house he showed aggressive behavior that I didn't experience. They said he showed a lot of leash aggression and if someone came up to him he would bark aggressively and try to bite. He is VERY protective of his owners. What scared me the most is they had a friend over and he tried to attack her and ripped her shirt. After hearing this news I was very upset and disheartened. I didn't know what to do and felt lost wondering if this dog is even able to be trained. I reached out to some support groups and friends that have trained dogs and had so many people willing to help. My goal is to try to train Rambo and keep him. I've been watching youtube videos, ordered a training collar that was highly recommended and am in the process of trying to find an affordable trainer to evaluate him. This has been a lot on me emotionally and financially. I've put so much time, money and love into this whole process. As a lot of you know I live in a small studio apartment and I'm in the process of switching careers and moving soon. I spent approximately $800 at the vet getting him neutered, vaccines, well visit, treated for hookworm etc. I bought him a bed, bowls, food, toys, a harness, and an expensive training collar. I have spent close to 1K on him so far. I was hesitant to make this gofundme cause I don't like asking for help but I decided to do it after some friends were willing to help and recommended this. Anything will help, thank you so much! My goal is to get Rambo trained and keep him as my own dog but I think we have a long journey to go. I feel like I'm this dog's only chance and I'm hoping for a positive outcome. I am willing to put my time into training him and loving him but the financial support would help tremendously. Thank you so much, everyone!
