Help Support Case Davis - Fight Aplastic Anemia

10-year-old Case Davis of Florence, AL, has been diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia (bone marrow failure), an extremely rare and life-threatening illness. He is being treated at Children's Hospital in Birmingham while a search is ongoing for a bone marrow donor. Aplastic Anemia is caused from bone marrow failure and damage within the stem cells that prevent his body from producing red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. He progressed quickly from moderate to severe aplastic anemia within a few weeks. The only cure for Aplastic Anemia is a bone marrow transplant. As a search for a match continues, Case is receiving immunosuppressive therapy.

Case is the son of Ashlie Alred Davis. He is a precious, sweet boy, an A-B Honor Roll student, and the winner of a Citizenship Award at his school. He loves horseback riding , soccer, online gaming and spending time with friends and family.

Case's mother is a single mom of four children, one of whom has special needs. At the time of Case's diagnosis, his mother had to take unpaid leave of absence from work in order to care of Case during his illness, which requires frequent trips to and from Birmingham for treatments and lengthy hospital stays. We hope to relieve some of the financial strain for this sweet mom, so that she can focus on caring for her children at this time!

URGENT PLEA:

During the months that Case's mother has been on unpaid leave of absence from work, bills have been mounting. Medicaid only pays for a limited number of prescriptions per month, the rest are out of pocket; and many supplies that Case now needs, such as ice/heat packs, bandages, numbing sprays, compression socks, clothing to accommodate the central line on his chest, etc. are also unexpected expenses the family is incurring. The family's car is also now in need of repair (drive shaft and alternator) at a time when transportation is critical, in order to get Case to and from Birmingham for treatments. Funds donated to help Case's family will go toward medical expenses, groceries, rent, utilities, and transportation. The need is great!
