My Friend's Fight for Life

Hi! My name is David and I started this fundraiser five weeks ago. The goal is to raise money for my friend, Mike's, cancer treatments. Mike has follicular lymphoma which is a form of cancer. In technical terms, he has T2N2M1 Stage 3 cancer which means he has multiple tumors which have grown outside their original host organs/glands and have metastasized. The cancer is now in his bone marrow.

Last winter Mike had been feeling weak and out of breath and noticed lesions on his scalp. His cancer diagnosis was confirmed and he is currently being treated at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Gilbert. He has applied for financial assistance through the American Cancer Society, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and Banner Health and has received a $500.00 grant from LLS. But he still needs help.

He does have medical insurance but has a $7500 deductible that he must meet. Unfortunately, he has no resources due to being financially devastated by a messy divorce. I am very happy to report, though, that through the donations of nearly fifty individuals (both friends and total strangers), enough money has been raised, to this point, to pay for the much-needed lab work which totals $1256. The next obstacle is paying for the PET Scan (another $2700) which will help Mike's doctor, Dr. Michael Stanek, determine how best to proceed with treatment. Still, we are about $4500.00 from reaching our goal.

Mike is the nicest and most giving person you will ever meet. He always has a smile on his face and, although he has been through a rather terrible and trying life, he is always the one who makes others laugh. He is giving and caring and sacrifices his time and energy for others. He is a devoted father, an author (his book is available for purchase on Amazon at: https://a.co/d/314zbYG) and a friend.
