My Hair is Beautiful is a self-esteem building workshop for girls between the ages of 5 to 18. Our goal is to empower and inspire girls to love what they see when they look in a mirror as well as educate them to give them the tools they need to follow their dreams. We invite those who have stories of adversity to come and speak to the girls as mentors.
When the girls arrive they are provided with a mirror and the My Hair is Beautiful creed, which is recited once the program starts. The girls are encouraged to participate via answering questions, sharing stories, and general cooperation. At the endof the program, we give the girls swag bags filled with goodies and items for practical use, and we encourage them to trade items between bags to build partnership and spread love.
