Help my husband find a safe space in Haiti
Donation protected
Hi friends,
I am Loralie and I am raising funds to help my husband Perckens find a safe space among the brutal gang violence in Haiti. Things in Haiti have almost always been unpredictable, but things are getting increasingly horrific. I have been to Haiti twice in the past 18 months, and I felt quite safe. The gangs now control 80% of Port au Prince and are gaining control of a lot of other areas, including Jacmel, where my husband lives. Late last year he was on a bus that was taken hostage by bandits. Through the insecurity we always had Jacmel as a safe space. A week ago, he saw gangs coming into his area by boat, and he was able to escape the gunshots. But, the gangs made a hole in his roof to enter the house, ransacked his home, and stole everything.
Yesterday, 16 people were found dead about a mile away from his house. He needs to find safety. I am raising funds to help get him a safe space in a safer neighbourhood. In Haiti you have to pay 6-12 month rent in advance, so the money will go to help get him out of Jacmel.
Thank you for your support, it means a lot. It takes a community...
