My journey to become an ITF Taekwondo WorldChamp

Hi, my name is Aimee. I am 17 years old and have been blessed with the opportunity to represent Team USA at this years ITF Taekwondo World Championships in Finland . I’m currently a 2nd degree black belt and have been doing Taekwondo since I was 4 years old. I have earned gold medals in the majority of all the tournaments I have competed in throughout the years. This sport is my passion. It has helped me get through many difficult moments in the past including the natural disaster that was Hurricane Maria towards Puerto Rico I’m 2017. It was definitely a difficult time since there was a lot of fear, anxiety, hunger, and confusion going on. I was luckily able to evacuate from the island, and moved to Florida where I currently still live in today. This transition was difficult but I was able to overcome everything. I wouldn’t imagine my life without Taekwondo. This sport has helped me develop important characteristics that will help me a lot in the future. I owe a lot to this sport since it has given so many amazing memories. I’m hoping to build more memories in the future including the ITF Taekwondo World Championships in Finland this September!
