My little Bobby boo

Donation protected
Bobby was put to sleep on 19/03/25. He battled on for a week. The sickest dogs that’s ever lived.

First of all I can’t believe I’m doing this and some of you will be reading it thinking you cheeky little c…. you’re tilled. I’m not tilled enough to be able to afford this out the blue with everything that’s happening at the minute in life.

On Thursday I was out walking Bobby on the loop lines like I have done since he’s been able to be taken out on walks. As per usual, Bobby was off the lead because he’s the most friendly dog ever.

About 3pm (15 mins later the loop lines would have been full of school kids walking home) I seen a guy wearing a balaclava with what I thought was an Alsatian (turned out to be a Belgium Malinois) off the lead acting erratically. I don’t discriminate against big dogs but as everybody knows Bobby can be annoying with other dogs because all he wants to do is play and this felt dodgy so I put Bobby on the lead. I won’t post the picture or video post attack on here but you can see from the little picture sent to the owner in the screenshots the lead is still on.

We stopped twice because this absolute clown wasn’t moving ahead fast enough with his dog. Finally we started walking again and when we came round a bend on the loop line and bobby was visible the dog just ran at him and savaged him. It’s honestly the worst thing I’ve ever seen in my life. But for two complete strangers who shouted down that they could take me to a vet I don’t think Bobby would be alive.

We rushed to an emergency vet and because of how bad it was they transferred him from there to another vets where he still is now. 3 different vets let me down gently about how bad it was and how likely it is that Bobby will have to go to to sleep, I already knew though having seen it, I was shouting you’ve just killed my dog to the muppet with the dog.

So I’ve posted all the screenshots associated with this as best as I could as you only get 5 pictures, you can see the actual dog owner was being scammed buy the lad who had the dog. They were trying to rehome the dog as they have 5 kids (guessing you don’t need me to explain why this dog and 5 kids isn’t a good idea). This absolute rat blagged he was a trainer to them and they fell for it. I’m not blaming them entirely because they’ve been so sound but I’ll be honest the more I think about it the more I cannot believe they let a dog like that go with somebody who turned up to collect it without a lead and they later saw him walking the dog with a balaclava on and didn’t think to get it back. AND THEY DIDN’T HAVE INSURANCE FOR THE DOG.

I’m not one of these idiots who doesn’t have insurance, even if they are. As you can see on the screenshot Bobby had “Lifetime Superior Plus” cover - I’ve been paying for this every month for 4 years assuming Bobby was fully covered should anything like this happen but the max payout is £4000, which is a con in itself. The vets told me when I gave bobby to them, this will cost around £4-6k. I thought okay Insurance 4k, me 2k if he makes it worth every penny. The vet bill is currently at £10.4k and that’s if he came home today, he isn’t coming home today.

As I was making this, I was told he’s going to need another op as the cells around the wound are dying.

Latest update, as of today (19/03) Bobby still hasn’t had his second surgery as the skin around the staples went completely black and was cut away. Due to the fluid on his lungs and chest draining more than it had been and the new open wound on his chest he isn’t fit for surgery. If/when he comes home, it’ll be with the open wound and he’ll need to go back to the vets every two days for six weeks to have his dressing changed and cleaned. Let me tell you from my experience with this vet and their TrustPilot reviews, this won’t be done out of the goodness of their heart.

I want to be completely honest when I say I don’t think he’s going to make it, everybody is saying be positive but you didn’t see the attack and you don’t have the same feeling I have towards management at this vets.

The ridiculous and increasing costs are something I’ll be getting itemised and will be speaking to the vets about. At what point have they gone too far with it? It’s going to be 15/16k at least in the end.

I’m going to be running a half marathon now in October as part of this, which will be funny to a lot of you as I’ve said I’d never ever do one of them again but I feel sick asking for doe. That’ll be for a dog charity and bolton hospice. Should this go above the target anything over will be donated as well.

I’ll be pursuing any legal avenues against the guy who had the dog if we can find him and if we can’t sadly possibly the owners so should that come to fruition I can refund any donations or again donate it to charity.

Most of you will have met Bobby before and know he’s the best dog of all time. The fact he loves dogs so much makes it worse that a dog has done this.

For clarity I’ll attach the vet bill to this before any funds are used or withdrawn.
