A person who loses a spouse is called a widow or widower, a person who loses both parents is called an orphan. There is no name for a parent who loses a child.

The death of a child is one of the worst things that can happen to any parent. Most parents who have lost a child are in so much pain even though they have found ways to cope on the surface.

As a parent who has lost and has resolved my pain, I want to be able to help parents (and grandparents) who have lost a child, no matter their age. From a miscarriage, stillbirth, infant loss, young-aged child loss or adult child loss.

This fund is set up in memory of my baby boy Morakinyo Caleb who died at the age of 7 months old. It is dedicated to supporting bereaved parents: fathers, mothers and relatives in finding new meaning to life after a child's death.

This will mainly involve Free Away Weekends in the UK for bereaved parents annually. We will develop other initiatives as we go along.

The weekend breaks will be made available for free to bereaved parents as we run solely on donations. 

During the weekend away, the workshops will be a mix of practical sessions, and informal discussions to support grievers through their grief journey.

Attendees are free to participate as much or as little as they want.

Most importantly, this is an opportunity to spend a weekend with people who truly understand how it feels to be a bereaved parent.

The weekend retreats will be facilitated by our team. Me in the capacity of a bereaved parent and also as a Grief & Loss Specialist. The team comprise bereaved parent volunteers and Grief specialists.

We ran our first retreat in 2022 and plans are underway to run the second retreat. The plan is to run an annual retreat.

Extra funds will also be used to fund or part fund grievers who need more professional help but don't have the finances to get the help they need.
