My mom lost everything to a tornado
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Jared and I am fundraising for my mother, Elisa Humphreys, who lost everything today to a tornado near Carstairs, AB. There is nothing left of her home, or any of her belongings. Luckily she was able to get herself, her dog, and one cat into the car and leave moments before her home was hit. I believe the AB alert system saved her life.
Three of her horses were severely injured - two should be able to recover, but unfortunately we had to put her pony (princess) to sleep as her injuries were too extensive, and we didn’t want her to suffer.
We also lost a second home that was sitting on ibeams in her yard, waiting to be moved onto a foundation for a home.
My mom is an incredible woman. She tirelessly works herself to the bone, growing the business she started called Clothing for a Cause. She has spent over 20 years of her life using this business to help people in need…putting her own needs behind those of others. Clothing for a Cause supports many different charities and organizations, including Haiti Arise - which does amazing work helping desperate families and children in Haiti - and the Central Alberta Pregnancy Care Center - which supports young mothers with their amazing programs and housing.
She lives very modestly. Paying herself only the minimum she needs to live, to ensure Clothing For A Cause can support the people and organizations that rely on her. When she quickly moved her mobile home to this acreage, it was set on a wood beam foundation, as she wanted to quickly have somewhere to live. Unfortunately she learned afterwards that the insurance companies would not insure her home unless it was removed, and set on concrete piles. This was never done, as she didn’t have the time, and didn’t want to spend that money. This leaves her with having nothing insured for the disaster that struck today.
Any support you can offer will go a long way to help a woman who has dedicated her life helping everyone else, often at her own expense. I am heartbroken to watch her go through this. Thank you very much for your kindness and generosity in her time of need. God bless.
