My mother passed away in the early morning hours of April 25, 2025..
April 21, 2025 Update: My mother started hospice on April 3, 2025, about 2 weeks after her brain surgery. We believe she is in her final days as she has lost all functions and the need for funeral expenses are incredibly urgent. Help us give our mother a proper burial, please and thank you.
Hi, my name is Eliza Castillo, and I’m reaching out during the most painful and uncertain season of our family’s life.
In January 2023, my beautiful, strong mother was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. Since then, our lives have changed completely. Despite treatment, her cancer metastasized/spread aggressively; to her brain, lymph nodes, hip, clavicle, lungs, bones & blood throughout her body and skull. It took her ability to walk, her vision, her movement, her strength, and now, it’s taking her life.
Last night(03/22/2025), my mom was rushed to the ICU after experiencing severe headaches and weakness. Doctors discovered she had suffered a brain bleed, caused by the multiple tumors in her brain and had we not caught it in time she would have had a seizure. After reviewing her scans, we were told that her cancer is now terminal.
Today, we sat with a brain surgeon who told us that my mom has just 2 to 3 months or less left to live. They are offering to perform a brain surgery tomorrow (03/24/2025), not to cure her, but to give us a little extra time. Just a little more time to say goodbye. Time to hold her hand. Time for peace.
This is where I need help, we can’t do this alone.
My mom hasn’t been able to work since losing her ability to walk last year around July. We’ve been caring for her and supporting our household and hers, but we’re also going to be responsible for my younger brother, who is still a minor and lives with a special needs and heavily depended on my mom. I’m doing everything I can, but it’s not enough.
I am humbly asking for support to help cover:
• Funeral and end-of-life expenses, when the time comes, my mom wishes to be buried next to her mother
• Support for my little brother’s care, to keep him safe, stable, and provided for after we lose her
This isn’t just about money. This is about giving my mom the love and celebration of life she deserves in her final months, and giving my brother a future with stability, even in the middle of heartbreak. We only have one chance to do this.
If you can give, share, or pray, we need it more than ever. I’ve never done anything like this before, but I’m asking from the deepest part of my heart. My family & I’s heart is so shattered.
Thank you for walking with us. Thank you for loving her with me.
With love,
Eliza Castillo
