My Mom's Liver Transplant Journey

My mother Julia has been battling an autoimmune disease over the last several years resulting in irreversible damage to her liver. Last January 2017 she suffered septic shock and her liver declined rapidly. Due to the decline, she was in great need of a liver transplant. Over the last five months we have went to San Francisco or an emergency room on a weekly basis to get assessed for the transplant list, to receive treatment to sustain her health, and sometimes because she was in emergency need of care. She fought for her life with all her might, she is the strongest person I have ever met. She was bruised all over and she no longer had any veins in her arms without scar tissue but she fought as the color left her body, she had weekly drains of fluid from her lungs and her body begin to shut down. It was a roller coaster ride of emotions with all the scares, tears, ups, downs, and constant worry. The constant worry if God would bless her with a liver before her liver completely decompensated. I can tell you prayers were answered because on September 29, 2017 at 7:15pm I received the call of a life time that a donor liver was being offered to my mom. My mom went through a 6 hour surgery and it was successful. Now the long road to recovery begins! Now I reach out to family, friends, and anyone who would love to support an amazing cause to consider donating to our journey. Over the last year medical bills have piled up, ongoing treatment is still needed, and my mother and I must stay in San Francisco for the next month and half to ensure she has access to the transplant hospital as she is at risk of her body rejecting the liver and must attend appointments and support groups three times a week at the transplant hospital.  I as her caretaker will need to get a place to live in the City as our home is over 3 hours away and she will need much more support.
