My mother and her hearing guide dog Gilly

My name is Nicole and I am from Nova Scotia, Canada. My mother Catherine lost all her hearing due to NF2 tumours located on her cochlear nerves. After a 4 year long wait on a waiting list, my mother finally had the long awaited opportunity to go to Oakville Ontario and train with the Lions Foundation Guide dogs. There, she was matched with Gilly and it was a match made in heaven. Gilly is three years old, and has only been in our lives since February 2023. About a week ago, I heard Gilly yelp in pain as she was getting up and laying down. I let my mum know, and she took her into the vet. At first, the vets thought she just had a pulled muscle in her neck and we took her home. On Friday October 7th, Gilly became significantly worse. She was refusing to eat, she would not go up and down the stairs to go outside, she was moving very slow, whimpering in pain, and breathing very quickly. My mother went back to emergency with Gilly, where they discovered blood in her chest. They suspect it may be a cancerous mass. To be sure my mother has to go to PEI and get Gilly a chest CT and ultrasound. My mother is disabled and unable to work, she does not make income. The bill for the tests and the hospital stay have already piled up to an amount she cannot afford. The CT scan that Gilly needs is alone $7000. We need to get Gilly the care she needs so she can get better, and get back to being my mums best friend and guide dog. If you have anything you can donate it would be so greatly appreciated. We cannot imagine our lives without Gilly, for she has truly changed the way my mother lives her life, for the better.
