My Mother Critical Medical Expenses

I am reaching out to you today with a heavy heart and a plea for assistance that holds immense significance for my family and me. I am writing to launch a fundraising campaign on behalf of my beloved mother, who was battling a severe health crisis for the last three months.

Last March, my mother came to Canada as a visitor, hoping to experience the beauty that this wonderful country has to offer. She was in good health condition when she came to Canada, but unfortunately, her journey took an unforeseen turn as her health declined dramatically after having severe pneumonia. She has since been admitted to the Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga, Ontario on June 20th, 2023. Her condition has continued to worsen, leading to her being placed in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), for almost three months, where she remained on life support and her kidneys stopped functioning. End of August her health condition got improved and could dispense life support equipment, and they moved her out the ICU. She spent almost a month in regular hospital room as she was still in critical condition and need to be stabilized before leaving the hospital. We are thankful that she got discharged from the hospital on October 3rd, however, she needs to recover at home before returning to her home country, as this could potentially jeopardize her life.

As our family navigates through this challenging time, we have been met with financial strains that we never could have anticipated. Despite having medical insurance, the extent of my mother's illness has led to her insurance coverage being entirely exhausted. The invoice (attached) we received from the hospital with a balance of $556,514 and continue to mount as she is still in need for dialysis three times a week as a sort of life support, which cost approximately $1600 per one time. We owe the hospital the total amount as what is left in the insurance policy is $25k only. And this is one part of the financial burden we are facing. Additional costs, including doctor's bills, are yet to be determined, and they only add to the overwhelming challenges we are confronting. The name and personal information of my mom's account is hidden for her privacy. However, if you want to add a big contribution directly towards her account in the hospital, I can share it with you. Also, I will update you as you have the right to know.

In the face of these challenging circumstances, we exhaustively sought assistance from every avenue. Regrettably, my mother's status in Canada rendered her ineligible for any form of governmental financial aid in Canada or from her home country. I am humbly turning to everyone of you, seeking your help in this fundraising campaign to collect as much as we can, a sum that would significantly alleviate the financial strain we are currently experiencing. The funds raised will be dedicated to covering a portion of the mounting medical expenses and ensuring that my mother continues to receive the vital care she urgently needs.

Allow me to shed light on how we intend to manage these expenses during this challenging period. Firstly, we are gathering whatever we can from our family. Secondly, we are reaching out to you, seeking everyone's support. Lastly, we talked to the hospital management and they gave us three months to gather the money, and in case there is a remaining amount, we will discuss with them financing options. We hold the hope that, with a significant portion of the expenses being paid, the hospital administration will acknowledge our unwavering commitment to meeting the costs of the services rendered, and our request to finance will be accepted.

My mom is in her sixties and full of energy and love to everyone and has so much to give. She has a very kind heart and always supported everyone around her and anyone in need. Prior to contracting severe pneumonia, she led an independent life and enjoyed good health. We hold high hopes that, with the appropriate medical care and recovery, she will regain her strength and resume spreading love, just as she has always done. I understand that times are tough for many, and I would never ask for help without good reason.
