My Mother Getting Seen for Synovial Sarcoma

Hi, my name is Faizan Khan. I am reaching out to all of you to ask for help raising money to fund my mom's cancer diagnosis. Last week she received the diagnosis of Synovial Sarcoma. It is a rare cancer that occurs in 1 out of every 1 million people in the US annually and rare enough to where my mother's oncologist didn't know what else to do besides advising us to reach out to MD Anderson Cancer Center (I guess it was rare enough to where she had no idea what to do, and couldn't tell us anything on any statistics regarding her survival either). I went ahead and did that (mom has a slight language barrier, and is also rightfully freaked out) to find out that they do not accept my mother's insurance (Oscar). I am currently working with the insurance company to try and see what can be done but MDACC won't see my mom even for a first visit unless we pay their fees upfront (fees only cover testing and imaging and what not, not treatment).

I am a medical student myself and will be leaving for my rotations in a few days (I've been responsible for everything regarding my mom's care since getting back into town), and a lot of this will fall on my dad (also language barrier). I am asking the community to help me raise the goal of at least getting seen so that we know our options, her realistic survival timeline, and how much her treatment will cost. This should hopefully buy me some time to look into more options and also not fail out of my rotations.
