My Next Novel... The Tear Mage

Hello, I am S. J. Serio, author of The Monsters Within. I am working on my second novel, a fantasy story centered around a girl who learns that she has great powers. While my first novel was aimed at an older audience with darker and more mature themes, this novel is aimed at a wider audience from middle grade and up. I wanted to write something my daughters will be able to read.

The world is a typical fantasy setting with elves and dwarves and goblins. However, I am attempting to put my own spin on many of the tropes and craft a world that many can enjoy. This is the first novel set in the world with many more planned. Along with this first book in a series, I plan to release several other series including a prequel series and a parallel series geared at a slightly older audience, and a culmination series that brings them all together. I also have plans for further other stories expanding the lore and scope of the world and even bringing other writers to carve out their own niche in the world.

I still have a lot of work to do and many costs are associated with it. The first draft is complete, and I am working on readying a draft to send to an editor. I want to make sure that the book is as fine-tuned as possible. That said, I anticipate costs associated with editing, cover design, supplemental artwork, and audiobook creation.

Your support will help see it done. Should the goal be surpassed, any additional money will go towards the creation of further books. I am to have this book published by the end of the year and at least two other book manuscripts drafted by then.
