My Own Hair - Student Short Film
Donation protected
Hello Everyone!
We are My Own Hair, a student film that highlights a true story based off of one of our professors (view synopsis below). We are just about to head into production, and would love any help in completing our fundraising goals. This story touches on many important aspects in society: Black rights, women's rights, and learning to love yourself for who you are. If you have ever faced challenges with any of these issues, consider donating to our project. Since this is a period piece, it takes a little bit extra to get us in a comfortable financial situation.
Your donations will go towards costuming, our production designers, locations, enough food to feed our crew, as well as things such as film festival fees later on. We hope to uplift and empower young women with our film and can't do it without your help!
Synopsis: In September of 1968, middle schooler Rita Pettis runs into her neighbor's niece rocking an afro, the first she's ever seen. When encouraged to try the new hair-do, she reports to school only to find herself suspended for wearing her natural hair.
