Hi, my name is Aisha Sewell and I have a terminal illness that consists of hypertension, and congestive heart failure with fluid retention ...
6/2022 - I was rushed to the hospital and diagnosed with dissection of the aorta (tear in the main heart valve and given 24-48 hours to live. Hospice life expectancy is low. I was taken off hospice and was stable but unable to use the right side of my body and require total care (including bathing).
10-2022 - I was rushed to the hospital and diagnosed with an infection in my blood and required to be hospitalized for two weeks. I was discharged to rehab at Beacon Brooks Rehabilitation where I currently reside.
12-2022 - I was rushed to Waterbury Hospital and then transferred to Yale New Haven Hospital. I was diagnosed with an aneurysm in my aorta (which was enlarged). Life expectancy is 1 year. I am currently 7 months in and my expectancy is 5 months. I am a candidate for open-heart surgery but my Dr. is not sure if I am strong enough to survive the surgery.
1/2023 - My current insurance is $600/ day and I can't afford it. I won't be able to return to my apartment because it is a fire hazard and I am only able to be transported via stretcher. I am seeking help with the apartment with accommodations that are sufficient and feasible.
