My pomeranian Bears unexpected surgery

Hello, my name is Donna and I am fundraising for my daughter Ki's dog. He was rushed on Monday to the local pet hospital while gasping for air. Upon arrival the veteranians discovered Bear had a whole in his lung, which had caused his body to fill up with air moving his heart and internal organs. They successfully have removed the air and are still in process of taking care of him. They are not for sure at this point what caused the injury. They are expecting to keep him another two days. I am not for sure if anyone is aware of how costly this type of care is but they have so far been given a total of $6000 with additional days running $500 to $800 per night. Ki is normally is prepared for just about anything but this has knocked her off feet with the expecting baby in June. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated.
