This fundraiser was started after most of my paintings & my paints & brushes were destroyed. I also lost my car and my GOOD2GO restaurant delivery job in 2024 in crimes that changed my life and were reported. Except for art and photography and writing I have not been able to work since Sept 2024.

Since the 1980s I have worked for nonviolence and social justice. I have worked in homeless shelters & with people with disabilities, delivered food, and more.

While I prefer arts name Mr Bird my given name is Gary Eklund and I was a peace activist in Iowa in the 1980s.
I worked for 10 years at what was then The Association For Retarded Citizens ARC Of Rock Island County.
Which inspired my book "A Beginners Guide To Sign Language For Agencies and Families". I also served on AFSCME contract negotiating committees.
