Please help my Stepdad Mike :(
Donation protected
My name is Kirsty and this is my step-dad Michael Shawcross.
He has been diagnosed with Essential tremors. It’s similar to Parkinson’s but the treatment for it is different.
He has tried all the medications and CBD oil but it makes little difference.
He has always been a confident outgoing man but this condition has affected his confidence as you can imagine.
There is a treatment available which is fairly new in Australia and performed in Melbourne by Professer Richard Bittar and it’s called Focus Ultrasound.
Mike has had the initial appointment by Zoom with the Professor and he is confident that Mike is a good candidate and should have good results.
The treatment is $35,000 per side and Mike wants to do the left side as it is worse than the right side and as he is left handed and simple things like eating using his iPad and even making a phone call has become extremely difficult.
The zoom appointment was late last year and the Professor mentioned there could be a Medicare rebate down the track but it could take anywhere up to two years.
His children and stepdaughters and my mum Rita feel that he should get it done asap to improve his life now.
It is a lot of money and as he is now retired we feel some friends and relations might like to contribute to make this operation possible sooner then later.
Any amount no matter how small will help us to reach our goal which is $37,000, the other $2,000 towards another specialist that assists the Professor.
We, the whole family here in Australia and in England thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
*Please take note this is in USD.
