My Steps of Perseverance and Resilience
Donation protected
I DREAM OF WALKING THE CAMINO DE SANTIAGO – 350 or more miles of the 500-mile trek across Spain. It’s amazing I am alive…first having gotten control over my weight (I weighed more than 370 pounds) and then having emergency brain surgery (considered a 9% survivor). I hope you will take 10 minutes to watch a video I call “Steps of Perseverance and Resilience”. I share a little of the story of how I am reclaiming my life to live it optimally.
So why a Go-Fund-Me.
I’m 74 (will turn 75 in July 2024). Unfortunately, I plowed through my IRAs when raising my son as a single mother and on medical bills. So now I live just on my Social Security check. Yet I have this big dream…one to celebrate my life, my recovery, my ability to walk, and more than I can put into words.
While I have been selling some of my artwork (a skill I discovered during Covid lockdown that was taken away during brain surgery…and I worked extremely hard to regain that skill), I find I still need funds to make this trip happen. It is expensive and I have only saved a few thousand dollars…I need at least $6,000.
Your donations will help cover airfare, lodging, baggage transfer fees (so I don’t have to carry everything as I walk), insurance for any emergency, and meals. It all adds up for a trip that will last at least 40 days. Even a small donation makes a huge difference to me. Beating the financial challenge will allow me to accept the physical and spiritual challenges I will face.
Imagine me walking 12-15 miles/day, day after day after day, with my trusty assistant “Persie” (Trionics Veloped All-terrain walker). Imagine the spiritual challenge as I walk hours/days thinking about my past and my future…and contemplating what am I called to do next.
But the excitement that flows through my body every time I think about it is beyond description. The growth I will experience will be incredible …creating a legacy of perseverance and resilience.
So, thank you in advance for your generosity…blessings.

By the way: I just added two photos. One is of a dear friend who has walked the Camino and inspired me to attempt this incredible venture. The second is a drawing I did of her from a photo she used on her Christmas card in 2019. I have this photo on my dream board as it encourages me to try hard to achieve success...in the case physical recovery.
