EQUIVALENCE- My Fine Press Book - VERITAS EDITIONS

I am doing a Go Fund Me in order to cover the cost of making my very first monograph, EQUIVALENCE, and to cover the costs of making TWO parallel bodies of landscape work that I envision as the contents - and I am beyond thrilled to have scored my dream publisher, in VERITAS EDITIONS [www.veritaseditions.com/equivalence]

EQUIVALENCE will be a gorgeously printed Fine Press book (that will also include some of my silver gelatin prints - as part of the book). This book will bring together my literal landscape photographs (film photographs) with my physical/figurative landscapes (photograms, which are unique darkroom prints), and will bring me back out west, as travel to multiple states (in the Western United States) is essential for both of these bodies of work.

Further, this work, is the work that my past 24 years of dedication to analog photography has led me to, and I am so inspired to begin making it...

For 20 years (pre-covid), I was a dedicated landscape photographer who traveled out west whenever possible, to make true infrared and traditional black-and-white film photographs, which I print exclusively by hand, in my (home) darkroom; However, beginning the covid shutdown with an unfinished darkroom changed my photographic trajectory and led to 4 years of immersion into the world of experimental cameraless photography (photograms) - and somehow along the way, my alternate process photographs morphed into landscape photographs, in their own right. Which is what inspired my vision for the book.

My plan for EQUIVALENCE is to travel to various locations in California, New Mexico, Colorado, Oregon (and possibly Washington and beyond), where I will make black-and-white photographs, with my Hasselblad and/or Graflex Crown Graphic cameras, as well as collect materials (such as beach sand, ocean water, rocks, and other natural elements that I can take and ship home to myself, in New York City).

When I return from my travels, I will develop the film, print a large selection of the film photographs and make the photograms [photograms are made by placing the materials directly on top of the paper, they are one-of-a-kind, for no camera is used to make these photographs].

While it may sound ambitious, I'd like to be clear that I am only asking for the barest of bare minimums needed to bring this dream to life (Which is why I am continuing to apply for additional funding).

To break down how far I will need to stretch the funding I am requesting:

Clearly, the funding will have to be stretched VERY far, in order to make this book without securing additional funding [which is why I wrote this campaign into my 2024 Guggenheim Fellowship proposal; I have quite ambitious plans for best case scenario of the book].

Thus, I don't have words strong enough to convey how much your support means to me. Which is why I am offering some wonderful REWARDS to express my gratitude to those who contribute to my photographic aspirations.
