My voice and my dream, in your hands - WYC 2024

My name is Angel, and this is my story.

In this 25 years of life God has gifted me with so far, I knew I had a purpose, something to live for, something that made my time on earth valuable. I have finally realized that music, was the key of this score called life; and my voice, the instrument.

Coming from a very little city where I had no means of studying voice, I traveled for as long as I can remember to countless academies and music schools that weren’t so near, rushing through buses and high school, chasing my dream just like our lungs long for oxygen.

I never knew what it was to have wealth, or plenty of means to be heard, a platform. Opportunities in the music field in my country are scarce, and for me, moving into Caracas and finding a place in the most important choir from my country was a huge blessing, but also, a sign.

For me, it wasn’t fair that I was there amongst the best musicians and singers, I had little to no professional preparation or experience, but with time, they made me feel I was worthy of my place and little by little, I began to believe it.

Today, I’m incredibly happy to be able to prove myself apt by going to the 2024 summer session of the World Youth Choir in Germany, the Netherlands, Italy and Austria, to experience the true Ode to Joy, in the very place the great Beethoven was born.

If you’re still reading, it means you have a kind soul, and you gave me the chance to enter your kinder heart. If that is true, I will much appreciate if you could help me make the dream of a boy who never thought would get on a plane, sing in a big stage, or even, find his purpose, come true.

Mi nombre es Angel, y esta es mi historia.

En estos 25 años que hasta ahora Dios me ha regalado, sabía que tenía un propósito, algo por lo que vivir, algo que hiciera de mi tiempo en esta tierra algo valioso. Por fin me he dado cuenta que la música era la tonalidad de esta pieza llamada vida; y mi voz, el instrumento.

Viniendo de una muy pequeña ciudad donde no tenía los medios para estudiar canto, tuve que rodar desde que tengo memoria para incontables escuelas de música y conservatorios, corriendo entre autobuses y el colegio, persiguiendo mi sueño tal como nuestros pulmones ansían el oxígeno.

Yo nunca supe lo que era tener riquezas, o muchos medios para ser escuchado, una plataforma. Las oportunidades en el ámbito de la música en mi país son escasas, y para mí, el mudarme a Caracas y encontrar un lugar en el coro más importante de mi país fue una bendición enorme, pero también fue una señal.

Para mí, no fue justo estar en medio de los mejores músicos y cantantes, yo tenía casi nada de preparación o experiencia profesional, pero con el tiempo, ellos me hicieron sentir que yo merecía ese lugar y, poco a poco, me lo fui creyendo.

Hoy, estoy increíblemente feliz de probar mi aptitud yendo a la sesión de verano del 2024 del Coro Mundial Juvenil Alemania, Países Bajos, Italia y Auestria para vivir la verdadera Oda a la Alegría, en el lugar exacto en donde el gran Beethoven nació.

Si aún sigues leyendo, significa que tienes un alma caritativa, y me diste la oportunidad de entrar en tu aún más caritativo corazón. Si esto es cierto, yo apreciaría demasiado si pudieras ayudarme a hacer realidad el sueño de un chico que nunca pensó que se montaría en un avión, cantaría en un escenario grande, o siquiera encontraría su propósito.
