I Need a New Wheelchair-
Donation protected
Hello.
My name is Anthony (Tony) Huddleston.
I've been paralyzed since 1981 when I was just 16 years old. Even though I've been fairly independent my whole life, the past few years have been more difficult than I ever anticipated.
Thanks in part to my current wheelchair, I've developed a pressure sore which has forced me to go to a wound care doctor every week.
I have to go see a urologist every month also. The wound just isn't getting much better due to my weight being distributed incorrectly in my chair.
I've tried my best to maintain my current wheelchair, but all things wear out eventually, and it's at least 15 years old and has broken parts which cannot be replaced... believe me, I've tried.
The chair I'm currently in was used when I bought it and it's nearly done for.
My wheelchair is my only means of getting around and gives me the ability to live a somewhat normal and stable life.
Without it, I couldn't do any of the things we all take for granted like shopping, cleaning the house, doing chores, going to doctors or even strolling around my house and yard.
I have to buy a new one that's fitted to my needs and my body.
However, wheelchairs are expensive and my small income just won't afford me a new one as I still have bills and medical expenses to pay which aren't getting any cheaper.
I love being independent, but I really need some help since I'm living on a fixed income.
If you could chip in, it would mean the world to me.
Many thanks in advance.
