Miller Family House Fire Fund
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Erin. I'm fundraising for a wonderful family who lost everything in a devastating house fire on September 8, 2022. Phil and Michella Miller have been longtime residents of Slippery Rock Township. They have shared their home of 15 years with their three children- Vanessa, Alexander, and Logan and their six pets.
The fire broke out just before 9 a.m. Thursday morning, while the children were at school and Michella was substitute teaching. After taking his youngest son to the bus stop, Phil had just returned to the house and noticed a faint smell of wood burning. When he went to investigate, he felt a heatwave come from the hallway. Phil knew something was wrong and went to get a fire extinguisher, but within moments, smoke was everywhere. Phil saved one of the family dogs while he crawled out of the house and called 911. The entire back of the single-story home was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.
Upon returning to the home Saturday, the Millers found another one of their dogs alive. Family and friends are thankful that Phil, Michella, and the kids were not harmed yet saddened by the tragic passing of three cats and one dog. The home is a total loss, and the family's belongings are not salvageable, leaving them with only the clothes on their backs that morning. It's going to take the family time to rebuild their lives.
I can't imagine how devastating this is for Michella, a veteran, and her family. We are collecting donations to go towards housing, food, clothing, personal care necessities, vet bills, and to help restore some of their belongings. Unfortunately, the family doesn't have home insurance, so they need help.
We appreciate anything and everything you can do to support Phil and Michella during this devastating time. While grieving the loss of their home, pets, and everything they have worked so hard for, they are grateful for their safety. As family, friends, neighbors, and the community rally around them, we kindly ask for donations to help them get through this unimaginable tragedy. Even just a prayer for them would be a blessing at this time.
