MYAH CAN MAKE IT

Our beautiful girl Myah has just turned six months. She is a happy, brave and loving baby but has spent almost every day of her short life in intensive care because of an extremely rare condition that means she can’t breathe on her own. Myah’s condition falls under the category of children's Interstitial Lung Disease(chILD).However there are over 130 diseases that fall under this category. ChILD is so rare it affects just three babies in a million. Myah’s case is even rarer still because the cause of Myah’s condition remains undiagnosed. The prognosis for chILD has a poor outcome with a life expectancy spanning generally 2-4 years. As Myah is undiagnosed we do not know if this applies to her.

Myah faces a long stay in hospital during her crucial early years unless we can bring Myah home with all the equipment that is provided in intensive care.

Myah is 26 weeks old and has spent 22-and-a-half weeks of that in John Hunter Hospital. After recieving the best care at John Hunter Hospital, we have decided Myah needs a normal life.

We want our beautiful baby home to be with her brother and sister and bond with her loving family. But we need your help.

As Myah needs support to breathe 24/7 the list of equipment to support Myah at home will cost $20000 for the initial setup. This includes the AIRVO 2 high flow air generator and back-up batteries, an optiflow jnr set-up, Continuous Positive Airway Pressure device(CPAP)and back-up battery, circuits and accessories that need to be regularly replaced and a generator in case of power failure.

Her specialists have also told us of a vaccine treatment Palivizumab that has helped babies like Myah stay well and avoid respiratory tract viral infections. This course of treatment costs $15,000 as it is not on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.

We are determined to give our girl the best chance at life because we want to see her grow up with her brother and sister and laugh, develop and live like other babies in her own home.

For a young family with three children it is a huge task. So to make our dream for Myah come true our family and friends are doing a lot of fundraising and we are seeking your help to raise our $35,000 target to BRING MYAH HOME.
