Day trips for My Lady
Donation protected
Thank you for visiting this page. This story is about an elderly lady who suffers with mental health problems and for legal reasons I am not allowed to name her, so I will call her My Lady. It has been created to raise money for My Lady, to enable me to take her on day trips, adventures and maybe even a little holiday, to all of the places she has spoken of that she visited as a child, or that she would like to see now.
Up until 10 days ago this elderly lady was living in horrific filth and squalor. There was no food, filthy clothes, nobody to help her bathe, and just never ending loneliness and despair. I had tried on numerous occasions over the last few years to gain access to her property to help her, as I knew she was living in less than acceptable conditions. What I saw when she finally let me in will stay with me forever! It was heartbreaking! So without thinking, I gutted her house! I mean everything went down to the toilet seat. I knew I needed help at this point so I put a post on Facebook asking for donations along with a list of what she needed. I could not of dreamt what would happen next! The response has been overwhelming! I had around 80% of the list within 24 hours! The offers of help, the donations of goods and the beautiful messages of support still continue and it has astounded me.
It took me over 60 hours of cleaning to get her flat to an acceptable level for her to live in, and with the kindness and generosity of the people who donated we turned her house into a home. She has everything she could need, good clean furniture, fresh new bedding, beautiful new clothes, three meals a day, and most importantly company. She truly has been saved from a lonely and degrading life. In the last ten days her mental health has improved so much, she has come to life and has been reminiscing about her childhood and her past and talking about places she used to visit, Kew Gardens, Hampton Court, Buckingham Palace.
When I first accessed her house she told me her TV was broken and said it had been like it for four years. On turning it on I realised the language had been set to a foreign language and she didn't know how to fix it! Four years! Because not one single sole had walked through her door to help her, she had sat in silence for four years! The TV was her ONLY company. When I got the TV working she was absolutely thrilled and the first thing that came on was a news item on Brighton. Immediately she began to tell me "I've been there to that seaside, I walked on that (the pier) and I had an ice cream it was a lovely day" I told her there and then "I'm going to take you back there again and we'll have fish and chips and ice cream and we'll sit on the pier and watch the world go by. I'll take you to all of the places you want to go to, that you want to see again!"
I want to fill her years with love laughter and happiness because God knows she has had so many without it!
We may have changed her life, but now I want her to live!
Thank you so much for anything you can give to My Lady it would mean the world to her and to me x
