Myles' Surgery for Sagittal Craniosynostosis
Donation protected
Meet our nephew, Myles Oliver Watson!
He is a happy, energetic 15-month old little boy who loves playing outside, swinging, and spending time with his big brother, Finn.
Myles was born in December of 2022 with a misshapen skull and without a soft spot on top of his head. He was diagnosed with Sagittal Craniosynostosis, a serious condition in which the bones of Myles' skull fused together before his brain had fully formed.
At 3-months old, Myles underwent what was supposed to be his only surgery to remove a section of his skull to allow space for his brain to continue growing. Following surgery, Myles wore a protective helmet 23 hours every day as his brain continued to grow and his skull fused back together.
After wearing the helmet for 10 months, Myles' head was reshaped, but doctors found that his skull had failed to fuse back together. The gap had actually grown larger.
Myles now requires a second surgery to attempt to correct this complication and close the gap. He was referred to a surgeon in Dallas, Texas who specializes in this procedure and will undergo surgery on March 20th. They expect to be in Dallas for a week.
As you can imagine, this is an extremely stressful time for Myles' family. Myles' mom, Chynna, is a kindergarten teacher at Seminary and his dad, Wesley, works for the public schools as well. They are wonderful parents to both Myles and Finn. They are blessed to have family and friends to love and support them through this journey and they are so appreciative of your prayers and well-wishes.
We want Chynna and Wesley to focus their energy on the care of Myles and not the expenses associated with his surgery.
Unfortunately, their insurance will not cover the entire cost of Myles' surgery. Additionally, they will have big travel expenses for hotel, gas, and food for the week of the surgery. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Please keep sweet Myles in your thoughts and prayers!
Thank you!
