Hey, I’m Makayla Myles girlfriend. Around 10:30 Friday I got a call while I was at work telling me that my boyfriend (Myles) had accidentally shot himself. I called his aunt & she called his grandmother & uncle. My aunt called my dad. I rushed home but by the time I had got home the cops & ambulance was already here. My brother was here with him when it happened but he was outside when he heard the gun shot he rushed in & he was the one to call 911. He was took to river view & intubated & put on a ventilator. They life flighted him from there to uab in Birmingham. At uab they told us he is just shy from being brain dead, & this was an unsurvivable trauma to the brain. & family needed to be there to make a decision for end of life plans. Me his aunt, uncle, grandmother, & my dad made plans for him. We decided to donated his organs & was told he was going to save 8 lifes. He still has a little bit of brain activity going on but it is declining. The bullet hit his brain stem. He cannot talk, move or see. His brain has to much pressure on it. It’s pushing blood to the surface causing his face to bruise. His eyes are swollen shut. There is no chance of survival for him unfortunately. They have ran test on him to declare if he was brain dead or not but he does still have that little bit of brain activity as I said tho it is declining. As of now we’re all saying our goodbyes. This is one of the biggest heartbreaks anyone could have imagined. We are raising money for the funds of his memorial & cremation anything at all helps!!
