Myranda Miami triple transplant

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Sandra “Aunt Chig” Brady. I am raising funds for my niece, Myranda Payne. Myranda is in need of triple organ transplant (liver, small intestines and pancreas) due to blood clotting damage to her small intestines. We will be traveling back and forth to Miami, Florida to the Jackson Miami Transplant Center.
THIS IS A LONG STORY, BUT SHE HAS A LONG HISTORY!!
This is my beautiful niece, Myranda. She was born with her intestines on the outside of her abdomen. She was in East Tennessee Children’s Hospital neonatal ICU for the first 3 months of her life. She lost 8 inches of her small intestines during the process of getting the intestines back into the abdomen.
As she grew older she started to experience multiple life threatening episodes of pancreatitis. At the age of 17, in 2016, due to the recurring episodes of pancreatitis and her mother passing away from pancreatic cancer, the decision was made to remove the pancreas.
She has lived 2016-2022 without pain, but is now an insulin dependent diabetic, as a result of losing her pancreas
In May of 2022, she started experiencing numbness, burning and pain in her left hand. She was hospitalized for 3 months. She was diagnosed with blood clots in her left arm, as a result of the clotting, the circulation was restricted to her left hand. She ended up losing all her fingers, most of her thumb and part of her palm.
She left the hospital without them finding the cause for the blood clots.
She was back to work in a month following discharge in July, before her hand was even completely healed, but by October, the same year, she was back to the doctors and ERs with extreme abdomen pain.
Cat scans revealed what appeared to be blockage in her small intestines. She was sent to a larger hospital in Chattanooga for further diagnosis and treatment. She was admitted to ICU
and was told it was not blockage, but that due to her blood clotting disorder, a part of her small intestines, had no blood flow. She was opened up and they tried to stimulate the bowel for blood flow. When they go back in 2 days later and the section was dead, at which time it was removed. The bile duct from the liver was affected, as well, and they were not able to attach liver to intestines. A tube was inserted in her side to drain liver into a bag, to catch bile. This bile is then administered into NG tube in her nose to put bile into stomach to assist in digesting her food. She had multiple surgeries to clean out and monitor bowel function. They finally closed the abdomen skin, but not the fascia given that she would require more surgeries for organ transplant and given past surgeries built up scar tissue would make it difficult to reopen later. She was in ICU from the first of October to the end of December.
While in the hospital, a case worker assisted in getting her signed up for Medicaid. She still has not heard from Medicaid.
She was discharged with being told that Erlanger would get her on board at Jackson Miami Hospital for TRIPLE ORGAN TRANSPLANT.
She has not heard from them, to date!
Myranda, herself, contacted the Jackson Miami hospital. Told them her situation and they recommended a GI doctor. Myranda scheduled the appointment.
We took her to the appointment on, Tuesday, February 15, 2023. The doctor was very shocked that she is still carrying this bag around, losing weight, (she weighs 78 pounds!!! ) and has lost a large amount of her hair. He says it is urgent that she gets the transplanted organs. Her body is not absorbing nutrients from her food!!!!!!
He is to obtain records from Tennessee and Georgia doctors as well as the hospital records. When he receives those he will refer her to the liver transplant specialist, who will consult with pancreas and small intestines transplant specialists. They are to contact Myranda for appointment to get on the organ donor waiting list.
The GI doctor stated that once the records are received everything should move pretty fast.
We anticipate multiple trips to Miami and possible temporary relocate, to be available for surgery when organs become available.
The travel expenses, as you know, add up pretty fast.
We are trying to lessen the financial burden for Myranda, as much as possible.
Any amount that you can give will be GREATLY appreciated!!!
