I've been creative since I can remember, coloring pictures and learning the difference between coloring in and outside the lines. That lesson continues for all of us into adulthood. As we know more about the world around us and how society functions, we start referring to the world as the 'real world' instead of standing on our limited perspective.
As a child, my earliest creative memories stemmed from entering grocery store coloring contests, where sometimes I'd place and other times I even won! When I was six years old, my mother was a part-time caretaker of a ninety-year-old woman living down the neighborhood street from the kindergarten class I attended. She was a very kind, thoughtful and, most importantly, astonishingly perceptive lady that bought me Kit Kat Bars and alerted my mother each time I choked on hard candy. I wish I could converse with her today and ask her how she knew I was an artist when I turned six before my mother did. She matter-of-factly told my mother one day, "he's going to be an artist. You'll see." At the time, my mother knew I was a creative child, but isn't every child creative to some extent? I didn't seem any different to any other adult, so why or how could this ninety-year-old see a talent yet to blossom when I could only spell the word 'is' and remember the colors of the rainbow and nothing else beyond that?
What is it about perception and what we believe to be reality versus what reality is?
The reality was that I was an artist at six without demonstrating some grandiose painting ability, exquisite singing talent, or creative writing. Yet, the power was there undeveloped, in slumber, awaiting an awakening and invisible to the casual observer's naked eye. The question that turns over in my mind is whether we are all born with various talents inside us that others cannot distinguish, except for the rare case that someone does perceive this dimension in us. Those rare people are labeled as crocks or perhaps psychic, or are they merely highly perceptive and nothing more?
Recently, I watched a short educational video taught by an Indian scientist stating that the ability of the eye to see the light and distinguish color doesn't come from the outside as commonly believed in science. But instead, only five percent of light is seen from the outside. The rest, the ninety-five percent, is projected through the flow of blood up from the contracting heart to our brain. More specifically, somehow, the energy touches our third or pineal eye, which strangely has remnants of an ancient retina. Does this translate to some esoteric, hard-to-fathom theory of seeing from the inside out?
'The human' is a mystery we think we understand, although we may not be using a clear lens of perception. Because if we did, we'd also perceive each six-year-old with latent talents, but we don't. None of us do, except for the kooky, spooky, misunderstood misfits called artists.
I want to invite you to see something outside the lines; I want to show you a film; I want to show you something maybe you haven't yet perceived.
Mystery-crime-drama feature film SYNTHETIC KALE takes us on a journey of intrigue.

While Raf had written several feature-length screenplays on spec in the mid 'OOs and late 'IOs, RENT-A-MAN (2022 Trailer: https://www.imdb.com/video/vi2603401753/) was his first standalone feature-length film. Though it is being viewed on the global film festival circuit, this story of a seasoned gangster is in process of receiving distribution in the United States. The entire film consists of two characters hiking Valley of Fire State Park near Las Vegas. However, its twist ending has future-changing consequences for audience members to contemplate. Raf wrote, directed, produced, cast, edited and explored cinematography with the feature accomplishing a creative dream and kick-starting his film career.
Raf is a screenwriter-producer-director who cherishes cultures, from differing palates to visionary palettes rounding out fascinating stories. His Publications Design M.A., Dutch foreign exchange, and a stint at UCLA's advanced screenwriting under Richard Walter evolved his perspective to own Mysterian Film Group. Raf began as a dreamer, writing screenplays as CoverageInk gave him a 'Strong Consider for writer,' and Universal Distribution Executive (November 30, 2020) verbally gave him a 'Recommend for writer.' Now he's turning stories into produced content through executive producing.
