MY TINA MEDICAL NEEDS

Donation protected
My TINA needs to come home!  This is a MIRACLE in the works!

On Thursday, October 27th, Tina was admitted to the hospital with Congestive Heart Failure.  After two days, and many different tests, it was determined that Tina needed a number of stents in the arteries of her heart.  The arteries were far too narrow to allow open heart bypass, and the resident surgeon said her heart was far too weak to allow it anyway.

So, on Monday, October 31, the Cardiologist would be implanting stents in several heart arteries.  When the kidney tests came back, they showed only 16% of kidney function!  Really bad news for a diabetic patient!

Very optimistic, and cheerful, Tina was ready for these stents, looking forward to renewed vigor, and a chance for more strength.  To share life with our families, and watch our grandkids grow.

When the staff came to take Tina to the Cath Lab, she was joking with the nurses and doctors.  That is her natural demeanor.  I love this woman.

About 20 minutes into the proceedure, a "CODE BLUE" was announced on the PA system - for the Cath Lab.  It was my Tina.  A relatively short - 1 1/2 hour proceedure turned into a 5 1/2 hour fight for survival.

When finished, the Cardiologist came to us all, anxiously seated in the waiting area.  Tina's prognosis was challenging.  He said she needed to survive 24 hours.

It was a downhill battle.  Everything seemed to go from bad to worse.  We were told her kidneys were completely shut down.  She will need dialysis for the rest of her life.  At one point, her lungs were 85% full of fluid.  Pneumonia became a very real problem.  Then - a staph infection began it's invasion.

Tina has been in the Intensive Care Unit since that Monday evening.  Slipping in and out of conscienceness, on a ventilator, dialysis almost daily, she has suffered much.  This is my dilemna.

Tina will be here in the hospital for quite some time.  When she does come home our house is going to require some minor renovations to accomodate her limitations.

Both of us are on SS Disability.  Tina has Medicare, I will be eligible March 1st.  Where the two halves of the home come together,  it has begun to separate from settling.  The house needs to be leveled.  The carpet needs to be removed and replaced with linoleum, or hard flooring, for a much more sterile environment.  And, we will need a ramp on the front of the house to accomodate a power chair for Tina.

Maybe there is someone you know in the Baytown / East Houston area that would be willing to help with some of these projects.  That would be wonderful!  If we can raise the finances to accomplish these tasks, it would make everything so much easier for Tina!  Even the challenge of getting to church on Sunday morning would be met!

These tasks are so important!  I would never consider asking people for a handout, but right now, we just need a hand up!  If you can help in any small way, it will be so welcome, and we will be so grateful!

Thank you for your kind consideration...
