My name is Teagan and I have created this page to help my cousin Zach and his family!
Zach has his successful open heart surgery on May 29, 2020 at Children Hospital of Colorado in Aurora, CO.
As you can imagine no family has a plan for their child to have open heart surgery. With what has been going on in this crazy world you can imagine that is has been a struggle for Zach and his family.
Zach's parents are Ryan and Tish Rodgers. He has a sister, Kayden.
I hope you will find it in your heart to help my cousin Zach and his family.
Zach and his family are starting a non-profit organization to help athletes get tested and find heart issues before it is too late.

Zach's Recovery Story
Zach's recovery has been amazing! After the open heart surgery, Zach spent only 24 hours in ICU. The nurses said it is the quickest some one has left ICU after open heart surgery. The surgery was on a Friday and Zach was home on Monday to celebrate his birthday.
It has been 3 weeks after the surgery and Zach is jogging and starting to workout. He is still a few weeks from hitting the ice and even a bit longer before he can get hit playing hockey.
Here is Zach’s story.
On July 29th, 2019, Zach was diagnosed with Sinus Venosus Atrial Septal Defect, by Dr. David Runciman at Colorado Children’s Hospital. Dr. Runciman let them know that Zach will need open heart surgery to fix the defect.
What is Sinus Venosus Atrial Septal Defect? It means that Zach was born with a hole in the upper chamber of his heart. Zach has learned that the hole is the size of a penny! Yes, the size of a penny!! Zach’s heart has only been pumping 25% of blood to his body and the rest is getting recycled back through his heart. This has caused the right side of his heart to become enlarged.
It is shocking for the family to learn that Zach has been living his life with a large hole in his heart.

About Zach
Zach is a super athletic and talented 15 year old! He is truly amazing.
He plays ice hockey for the Colorado Rampage 16u AA and the Pine Creek Varsity High School Team. He has played with Colorado Rampage multiple years. He played inline hockey for the Rowlett, Allen Texas Associations. Zach is a lifetime member of the USA Racquetball Association. He has competed in the US Open Racquetball Championships, multiple state and national championships and is a World Junior Outdoor Racquetball Champion. He also competes in the World Air Hockey Championships. He can also solve a Rubik’s Cube in under 20 seconds! Zach plays guitar and creates raps about books that he has to read in his literature classes.
For the Future
The Rodgers are not stopping with Zach’s open heart surgery. They are starting a non-profit organization, My wHole Heart to educate and help athletes find heart issues and to help families like them to get through what they are going through now.
