Acute Myeloid Leukemia
At the beginning of November Chris started feeling ill. After a couple doctor visits they thought it had mono which we now know was misdiagnosed. During this time Chris took a trip to his parents house in MI for opening day gun season last week. While there he progressively started getting worse and went to the ER. After a full work up the ER dr infact confirmed that it was NOT mono but was confident that he may have cancer. His white blood cell count was 139,000. Because they do not have an oncologist on staff they had to transfer him which was a difficult task due to staff shortages due to covid. We have been truly blessed that an oncologist at the Cleveland Clinic was in direct contact with the ER dr and wanted Chris transfered to her care. The immediately started some medication and testing before transport which got a jump start on things. When we arrived at Cleveland Clinic they told us Chris was scheduled for a bone marrow biopsy the next day. The redraw more labs and his white blood cell count jumped even more to 170,000. I was luckily able to stay with him overnight. But was told that they no longer let people stay past visiting hrs due to covid. So I can only be with him from 7am to 9pm. So I have to stay at a hotel in the evening. They also will only allow that 1 person to be the only visitor during the duration of his stay. The bone marrow biopsy confirmed that Chris has Acute Myeloid Leukemia and is starting aggressive chemotherapy. The chemo will run for 7 days on a 24 hrs cycle. In addition for the first 3 days he will get another chemo through an IV push (we call it red magic). On 14 they will repeat the bone marrow biopsy and make sure they got it all. Chris is currently in alot of pain and today is day 3 of treatment. His white blood cell count has began to decrease and this morning was at 92,000. He will be here at Cleveland Clinic for the next 6 weeks. I will be staying with him as much as possible since we are 5 hrs from home its been difficult to travel back and forth. So Cleveland will be our home for the next 6 weeks. Chris is a fighter and is going to fight like hell to get this into remission. He will need a bone morrow biopsy sometime next year. Please pray for us and all thr doctors and nurses here. Everything happened the way it did for a reason as he is in the absolute best care here!! Everyone at Cleveland Clinic are seriously a Godsent. We are seriously overwhelmed by the amount of support we have been shown by everyone that knows already. The police dept, all of our friends and family we could not do this without you all. I appreciate all the text and phone calls. Chris has been reading and responding!! So keep them good vibes and encouraging words coming!! They help so much!!! I thank God everyday for putting you all in our lives!!!!
On the road to remission!!!!
