Help Support Ross & his Family through Cancer

Donation protected

Hi, everyone. My cousin, Ross, has had some unexpected difficulties come up over the past couple months, and he’s agreed to let me share about it with you all. Please take a minute to read and consider joining our efforts to come around and support him and his family.

Ross Johnson is a 40yr old hardworking husband and father of two boys, Samuel, 7yrs and Ezra, 6yrs. His wife, Amy, stays home to homeschool the boys and Ross is blessed with the ability to work his full time IT job from home. Ross enjoys time spent with friends, nature walks and being outdoors with his family.

On December 6, 2021 Ross went in for a physical and, having some abdominal pain, he was referred to imaging for further investigation. The evening of December 7th he and Amy received a call informing that his scans showed appendicitis and that he needed to have emergency surgery to remove his appendix. As an even greater surprise, during his appendectomy the next morning, the surgeon found cancer in the abdominal cavity and on the appendix. This led to further testing as to the source of the cancer. During a colonoscopy on December 10th, the doctors located a golf ball size tumor in Ross's lower colon. The oncologist diagnosed it as a stage 4 colorectal adenocarcinoma. Ross was discharged from the hospital on December 13th and began his 1st chemotherapy treatment on January 14th. The plan now is a chemo treatment every 2 weeks for 3 months and then to have another scan to measure progress. Further treatment plans and prognosis will then be discussed at that point.

Although stage 4 colon cancer is very serious and the diagnosis looks grim with natural eyes, their family is choosing to stand on God's word in the face of it. Ross and Amy are claiming Mark 10:27, "And Jesus looking upon them saith, with men it is impossible, but not with God, for with God all things are possible." They recently shared with me, “We are standing on the word for Ross's healing, where all things are possible! Chemotherapy is a tool; healthy wholesome food is also an important part, but we look to God as our divine and one true healer. We are believing for Ross's full restoration and recovery.”

The Johnson family would appreciate anyone who is willing to stand in agreement in prayer for Ross's complete healing and recovery. Please pray for miracles with us! They also have a need for financial support if anyone is able to help in that way. While they are grateful to have insurance, they have high deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums. Between the initial hospital stay, surgeries, tests, the ongoing costs of chemotherapy and additional testing and the possibility of some lost work hours, they are navigating significant expenses this year.

From Ross & Amy: “We have greatly felt and appreciate the love and support of friends and family in this new chapter we are in. Thank you for being here with us as we go through this!”
