Help the Joslins
Donation protected
Denny Burk and Brad Hughes are asking you to help our friends, the Joslin family. (Anything above what they need, which is unknown at this point, will go to fellow church members who don't have support systems. Also, Barry and Jessica don't know we are doing this and wouldn't want it. But we know the needs are great and will be greater in time.)
Barry, Jessica, Haddon, Carson, Elizabeth and Mary Joslin moved to Sanibel Island a year ago so that Barry could serve as one of the pastors at Sanibel Community Church. When Hurricane Ian slammed into the Florida coast on September 28, it decimated Sanibel.
The Joslin’s home was flooded, and their renter’s insurance does not cover hurricanes or floods (their home is owned by the church). They are now facing the reality of losing all of their possessions. They are hoping to be able to salvage some items, but the one bridge to Sanibel has been destroyed. It may be months or a year before they have a chance to return and see if anything remains of their belongings.
In the meantime, they have significant needs. They only took a few changes of clothes with them when they evacuated. Their only remaining possessions are what they fit in their vehicles during the evacuation, and that isn’t much. In addition to caring for his family, Barry has a congregation to shepherd, all of whom have great needs as well.
We are asking you to give what you can to help the Joslins through this calamity that has overturned their lives.
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Denny and Brad
